The Rocky Montage table pays homage to the world of organic stone sculptures and their symbolic nature. Featuring fluid, organic forms and a cantilevered structure, the piece is hand-shaped from reclaimed petrified wood fragments, composed in artistic assemblage to form a striking, landscape-like surface.
Each table is sculpted by hand, resulting in subtle variations from piece to piece. Modulations in contour, motif and tone form part of the work itself, reflecting the material’s character and the presence of the maker.
Petrified wood originates from fossilised trees gradually transformed into stone through natural mineralisation underground over millions of years, revealing striking colour variation and intricate mineral patterning composed primarily of quartz, chalcedony, and jasper.
